cutie color-block closet
This project is one of my favorites because it takes a typically boring space - a coat/shoe closet - and transformed it into a delightful, functional space that sparks joy every time you open it! What started as a builder basic closet, now holds more than 20 pairs of shoes, dozens of coats, organizes vacuums and brooms, and has quick access to bags, dog leash, etc.
As the main storage space in this Seattle townhouse, it was essential that storage be the top priority. We added custom built floor-to-ceiling shoe shelves, hooks on the opposite wall, and created a DIY wood shelf to add some style to a standard rack for hanging coats and jackets. The color-blocked paint in behr Mesquite Powder (top) and Perfect Penny (bottom) bring a touch of whimsy and unexpected, while also being very on trend (what better space to try out a trend than a closet right?!). And even closets deserve some accessorizing, so we added a colorful rug and tattoo-inspired artwork.
