earthy living room

A gorgeous, velvet green couch and dozens of plants create a warm, earthy, organic feel for this small living room. For this room we wanted to maximize space and create a cozy and usable living room for both the humans and french bulldog who use it every day. The couch is not only beautiful, but utilizes a performance fabric and pulls out to a queen size bed for extra guests (or a giant “cuddle couch” for movie nights!) and has hidden storage under the chaise for extra blankets and pillows. We hung a Samsung Frame TV with a light wood frame atop a floating media cabinet that provides plenty of closed storage. A cream rug helps keep the space from feeling too dark and a simple, modern coffee table lets the other elements shine. And since lighting is crucial for setting the mood in a living room, we added black and gold long arm sconces in two complimentary styles flanking the windows that provide a warm glow at night.

While anchored in a mid-century modern aesthetic, there’s a few quirky and more eclectic details that I love, including the wood ball feet on the media cabinet and stack of vintage records that serve as a plant stand. And we can’t forget the plants! We FILLED the room with plants (23 to be exact!) including on a fun plant shelf that sits above the double windows and helps draw the eye upward and make the room feel taller.
